HORN STATEMENT ON IRAQ BENCHMARK REPORT
Posted July 4th, 2008 by Jennifer HornAssociated Press stories indicate that Iraq has reached several new agreements seen as critical to easing sectarian tensions. Jennifer Horn, Republican candidate for Congress, issued the following statement:
"Recent reports indicating the Iraqi government has achieved "satisfactory" progress on 15 of 18 political benchmarks bring us one step closer to the time when a stable and self-governing Iraq is in charge of its own security. While the progress is slow and not perfect, this shows that we are in fact making progress in Iraq and that we are on the right course.
Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word
Posted June 20th, 2008 by Jennifer Horn“Sorry seems to be the hardest word…” Elton John was singing about lovers, but today Rep. John Murtha could take a lesson from the ballad.
As of right now 7 of the 8 Marines facing charges in the Haditha incident have been cleared. One was tried and found to be not guilty and the other six have been completely cleared, charges dropped.
These are the same Marines to whom Murtha referred in these words: “Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood."
An elected representative of the people, with no knowledge of the circumstances, publicly denounced the protectors of our freedom as cold-blooded murderers.
He was wrong.
He should apologize.
The Battle for New Hampshire
Posted June 20th, 2008 by NH IndependentThe Battle for New Hampshire by E. J. Dionne on RealCLearPolitics.
HANOVER, N.H. -- The race for electoral votes could be so close in November that small states may well pick the next president. Among the diminutive states, New Hampshire is by far the most interesting.
Consider that in 2000, George W. Bush beat Al Gore here by 7,211 votes (Ralph Nader got just over 22,000). If New Hampshire's four electoral votes had gone the other way, Gore would have won and Florida would not have mattered.
New Hampshire is also one of only three states that changed sides between 2000 and 2004, and the only one that switched to the Democrats. John Kerry carried it by 9,274 votes.
The State of New Hampshire
Posted June 20th, 2008 by NHFactsDear Fellow New Hampshirite:
If you have been following the news, you know New Hampshire’s state budget deficit continues to grow beyond the $50 million gap that Governor Lynch originally indicated. It maybe four times that amount. The Lynch Budget deficit exists even with the State of New Hampshire reported record high revenues. How can we have a budget deficit despite record revenues?
Out of control spending! To help pay for this gaping deficit John Lynch wants to add a new tax on poker, increase taxes on liquor distributors and wants to raise taxes on tobacco for the 3rdtime in 4 years!
We all know the effects that higher taxes aimed at business have. We will all end up paying with higher prices and job losses.
Former Democratic Mayor Blastos Endorses Tom Eaton for State Senator
Posted June 13th, 2008 by NHFactsEaton will also be receiving an endorsement from former Keene mayor Michael E.J. Blastos, a Democrat, who didn't announce support for either candidate in 2006.
"At that particular time, while I appreciated all that (Eaton) had done, I was not going to endorse either one because Molly has been a dear friend for many, many years," Blastos said in an interview Thursday. "I didn't want to inhibit her campaign or Tom's. This year is a different question.
Tom Eaton To Run for State Senate

Eaton Announces for State Senate
Thomas R. Eaton announced today that he is running for the State Senate in
District 10 which includes the City of Keene plus Chesterfield, Dublin, Fitzwilliam, Hinsdale, Marlborough, Richmond, Surry, Swanzey, Troy, and Winchester.
"I want to give the voters a clear choice for the future of our state. Two years ago Molly Kelly ran on the promise of fiscal responsibility. But when she got to Concord she voted for a 17% budget increase and more than a dozen tax and fee increases. In contrast when I oversaw the previous budget in the senate we had just a 3 1/2 % increase that the Governor signed and praised as responsible.”
Sen. Sununu has a long record of fiscal responsibility in Washington
Posted June 7th, 2008 by NHFactsSEN. JOHN SUNUNU has stood up for New Hampshire values and fiscal responsibility in Washington. He has been an independent voice for New Hampshire when it comes to reining in wasteful Washington spending.
John is a true fiscal conservative who understands that we have a budget deficit because of overspending, whereas some politicians think we should keep on spending and just raise taxes on hard-working families and small businesses in order to close the budget gap.
This week the Democrats in Washington proposed doing exactly that in their Fiscal Year 2009 budget, which included the largest tax increase in American history and would increase spending to record levels.
Eaton says another Senate run possible
Posted May 22nd, 2008 by NHFactsDavid P. Greisman of the Keene Sentinel writes:
Former state senator Thomas R. Eaton is mulling a return to the campaign trail to challenge for the seat he lost to Democrat Molly M. Kelly two years ago.
Eaton, a Keene Republican, has also expressed interest in a vacant state liquor commission seat. He says he is still weighing his options and has not yet made his decision.
"How is this district being served by our current senator?" Eaton said Monday. "I look at what I did in just a couple years there versus what she has done. There's no comparison. I know what I can do and have done, and I enjoyed what I did."
Kelly declined to comment for this story.
Sununu voted the right way on the farm bill
Posted May 21st, 2008 by Red State WolfmanSununu voted the right way on the farm bill
From Fosters.com:
Let's hear no more from Democrats that they're on the side of the poor and opposed to big business. The farm bill passed by Congress loaded $40 billion onto nutrition programs for the poor to the benefit of America's wealthy farmers.
The country's corporate farmers won the backing of Senate Republicans from the farm states as well as the Democratic majority this week. Meanwhile, the majority party, working to widen its margin in the upper chamber is trying to paint President Bush and GOP members of Congress as being insensitive to the needs of America's underclass.

Lynch moves from tax-and-spend to borrow-and-spend...
Posted May 21st, 2008 by NHFactsCharles Arlinghaus writes in the Union-Leader: "Lynch moves from tax-and-spend to borrow-and-spend"
IT IS NOW widely accepted that the current state budget is in deficit. What is less well known is that the budget to be debated early next year will be worse. Many proposed changes will not help, but will just postpone the problem until the next budget debate, held at the politician's favorite time: after the next election.
Where is Senator Molly Kelly?
Posted May 15th, 2008 by NHFactsWhere is Senator Molly Kelly? Several times recently she has either avoided or delayed weighing in on important issues. Why isn’t she representing us?
She was criticized by the Sentinel March 25 for supporting a “crazy” education funding plan. Her answer was to state that “(t)his is a new beginning as we move toward solving this decades-old dilemma.” This is a beginning? Is the plan she now says she supports and voted for a good solid plan for education funding or not? Why would she say a “beginning” is enough at this point? Why is she supporting it if it is only a beginning and not the final answer? How can she call it a beginning when the issue has existed since 1996? The courts have issued many rulings over the past 12 years. This is not a beginning!
